On April 12, 1907, 69 dedicated musicians met
in Keokuk, Iowa.
This meeting resulted in the formation of MENC: The National
Association for Music Education.
On June 1, 2007, MENC dedicated a marker at the location of that first meeting in Keokuk in 1907.
