David Cecil was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2003. David’s first teaching position was at Madison Junior High beginning in 1971. In 1972, he moved to North Bend. In 1977, he moved to Papillion where he served until his retirement in 2002. David served as the NMEA Choral Affairs Chair.
Alice Johnson was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2003. Alice’s first teaching position was in 1974 in Fremont as a vocal music teacher. Two years later, she became the strings/orchestra teacher and taught the rest of her career at the same school. Alice retired in 1999. Alice received the ASTA Teacher of the Year Award in 1995.
Mike Veak was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1965, Mike began teaching in the Lincoln Catholic Schools. In 1978, Mike began teaching in the Lincoln Public Schools. He taught at Meadow Lane, Randolph, Eastridge and Rousseau until his retirement in 2003. Mike was well known as the “Voice of the Cornhusker Marching Band” serving for thirty-one years until his retirement. Mike served a NMEA Secretary Treasurer from 1974-78. In 1990, he became the Editor of the Nebraska Music Educator magazine. In 1993, he was given the title of Executive Director and Editor for NMEA. Mike also received the Donald A. Lentz Outstanding Bandmaster Award.
