Rod Schmidt was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame in2001. Rod began his teaching career at Firth in 1961. He then taught both vocal and instrumental music in Sterling. Rod then moved to Falls City where he taught secondary instrumental music. In 1974 Rod moved to Bellevue West. Rod’s final teaching position was at Logan Fontenelle until 1996 when he retired. Rod served as president of NSBA and in 1985 he was given the Donald A. Lentz Outstanding Bandmaster Award.
Don Schumacher was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2001. Don’s first teaching position was at Neligh. He later taught at Wayne for seven years, Norfolk and Northeast Community College and finished his career at Pierce the last 13 years. Don served as NMEA President Elect from 1976-77 and President in 1978-79. He was awarded the Teacher of the Century for the Pierce Schools.
