Joe Chapman was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Chapman taught in Shickley, NE; Bassett, NE; Onawa, IA; on the Island of Guam; and 19 years as Band Director in the Tekamah-Herman Schools, Tekemah NE. He is a Past President of the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association and a recipient of the Donald A. Lentz “Outstanding Bandmaster Award”.
Dr. Charles Harrington was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Dr. Harrington began his career teaching at the old Campus Laboratory School on the Chadron State College Campus. After two years he became Director of the Chadron State College Band. In 1976 he became Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He left education briefly but returned in 1982 as Chairman of the Division of Fine Arts and Director of Fine Arts Activities.
Earl “Pete” Jenkins was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. He began his teaching career as Supervisor of Music in 1946 at Bloomfield High School. He served Columbus High School as Choral Supervisor from 1947-49. Dr. Arthur Westbrook, then Director of the UNL School of Music, appointed “Pete” to the UNL Music Faculty.
Richard “Dick” Jorgensen was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Jorgensen was the Choral Director at Burke High School for 12 years before becoming Coordinator of Music for the Omaha Public School System. Mr. Jorgensen served the Nebraska Music Educators Association as Publicity Chair and Chair of Government Relations
Larry D. Maupin was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Larry spent his entire teaching career in the Grand Island, NE schools as a String Specialist and Director of Orchestras. He organized the Tri-City Youth Symphony which was comprised of student musicians within a 300 mile radius of Grand Island. Larry served as Orchestra Chair and also hosted the State Music Clinic in Grand Island on several occasions.
Louis C. Trcinski was inducted into the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Trcinski had a long and distinguished career at the University of Nebraska beginning in 1953. During his tenure (through 1980) he devoted himself to establishing string programs throughout Nebraska. He established the Sand Hills Symphony in 1961.
